Visit Edinburgh and experience the world famous Festival!
The Edinburgh International Festival is a three week programme of events including classical music, theatre, opera and dance and takes place in theatres and concert halls across the city. The festival has also set up a year-round programme of outreach work aimed at getting people of all ages involved.
Dates of the 2013 Edinburgh Fringe Festival: 2nd - 26th August 2013
Since the festival began in 1947, many other festivals have grown out of the original festival, taking place throughout the summer and into September, and are often collectively known as The Edinburgh Festival. The festival is famous across the world and it draws many visitors to the city in the summer. Getting to the city at this time of year can be difficult as flights and trains can get booked up really early (and be very expensive), so its best to plan your trip well in advance.
A great way to enjoy the festival is to rent an Edinburgh Festival apartment with a big group of friends. This can really help spread the cost - especially as all accommodation prices rise dramatically at this time of year, and will also offer you more freedom and flexibility during your stay. Self catering apartments (like all Edinburgh accommodation in August) get booked up very quickly, so its best to start looking for Edinburgh Festival accommodation early to make sure you find exactly what you are looking for!
