Beautifully restored 19th Cent.Cottage at the entrance to a nature reserve, the picturesque Hermitage, in the centre of Edinburgh. Excellent location for golf and sightseeing. Lovely paths lead from the cottage through The Hermitage Nature Reserve to Morningside with all its individual shops and bars. Very convenient for the city centre. Unrestricted and FREE parking is available in front of the property.
The cottage offers relaxed and comfortable accommodation for 6 people on 2 levels. Downstairs there is a large lounge with bay window overlooking Craigmillar Park Golf Course, Blackford Observatory and Arthur's Seat. It has a gas fire, a radio with ipod docking station and we have also provided books, videos, board games and toys for your enjoyment. The TV trolley can be connected in the lounge or dining room to allow for maximum flexibility. The spacious dining room seats 6 people comfortably and we have left candles should you wish to have a romantic meal. There is also a writing bureau for your convenience.
The breakfasting kitchen is well equipped and houses a fan oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and washing machine. There are plenty of dishes, glasses and pots whether you wish to prepare a quick snack or cook a gourmet meal. From the kitchen you can access a walled garden with a very sheltered, sunny patio area and herb garden. The rest of the garden is laid to lawn with apple trees, and a bench to catch the evening sun. A barbecue is available for you to enjoy. The family bathroom is fitted with a 3 piece suite,with bath and shower over.
Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom is bright and spacious. From the seating area in the bay window you can enjoy the stunning views over Arthur's seat, Craigmillar Golf Course and Blackford Hill Observatory. Huge mirrored wardrobes, TV.
The second large double bedroom faces the rear of the cottage and overlooks fields.The third bedroom is currently fitted as a twin room and also provides good storage. All the rooms have been carefully restored to show a lot of original features and have been tastefully furnished.
The cottage is very child friendly. A highchair and travel cot can be made available at request, free of charge. We have left night lights, socket covers and a step for the sink. Young children will be perfectly safe in our well equipped house. We are happy to organize a police/disclosure checked babysitter, subject to availability. Please book as early as possible. We also provide a welcome basket that not only includes essentials like bread, milk, teabags, coffee, etc but also some Scottish specialties for you to enjoy. There is plenty of space for everybody to relax and enjoy this fabulous holiday home.
There is a strict non-smoking policy within the house, however, smokers can enjoy the sheltered rear garden. Sorry no pets.
