| Party into 2010 |
|
What better place in the world than Edinburgh to say goodbye to 2009 and hello 2010? With its Harry Potter architecture, famous Midnight Fireworks and street party excitement, the city is the perfect backdrop to spectacular New Year's celebrations. Tickets for Edinburgh's Hogmanay 2010 went on sale earlier this month. Full details are available here. The five-day programme, running from Tuesday 29 December to Saturday 2 January, will be one of the biggest ever. Bands Madness and Noisettes will be performing at the Concert in the Gardens, while a headlining DJ set from MYLO and special guest DJs Gary and Tom (from Snow Patrol) and Richard Colburn (Belle and Sebastian) will be holding court at the city's West End DJ stage. If you fancy a more traditional Scottish Hogmanay, then why not get a ticket to The Keilidh taking place outdoors in Edinburgh on 31 December? You can dance your way into 2010 at the Mound Precinct, underneath the silhouette of Edinburgh's picturesque Old Town. Tickets cost £30 and will also give entry to Edinburgh's Hogmanay Street Party in Princes Street and the city centre. For many years Hogmanay was a bigger event in Edinburgh even than Christmas - and to some extent that influence lives on, making New Year an extra-special celebration north of the Border. The days of Hogmanay street parties when anyone and everyone could - and did - crush onto the streets on the night of 31 December have long gone, with better crowd control, ticketing and a big police presence nowadays. But all of the old fun remains. Hogmanay in Edinburgh is the time to let your hair down and party. |
