| Tram line delayed another four years |

Article here in the Edinburgh Evening News saying it might be 2013 before the city's new tram network is up and running. If you're visiting Edinburgh, you can't have avoided noticing the city's streets are being ploughed up for the thousands of miles of cabling required for the new project. Now it seems contractor disputes mean the £545m project may not be up and running for another four years. The network was originally meant to be ready next year. The eleven-mile route is meant to run from Newhaven, on the city's coastline, to Ocean Terminal shopping centre in Leith up to Princes Street then out to Haymarket and, from there, to Edinburgh Airport. However there is talk the route might be shortened because of spiralling costs. Should still be good to see Edinburgh with a state-of-the-art tram network. |
