Brown's Close Apartment

This is a welcoming, modern and bright first floor flat on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile. It features a large, comfortable lounge with dining area and balcony, fully equipped kitchen, bedroom with king-sized bed, and shower-room. Corner Sofa (converts into generous double bed); dining table and chairs; sideboard; king-sized bed; wardrobe and chest of drawers; travel cot available on request. The property also has free wifi internet access.

Close to all major tourist attractions, including Holyrood Palace and Scottish Parliament, it is convenient for many cafes, restaurants and pubs, and Edinburgh bus tours. It is minutes from Waverley station and Airport shuttle terminus.

The apartment is located in Brown’s Close, which is on the Canongate (part of the Royal Mile), metres from Holyrood Palace and the Scottish Parliament building.

On the first floor with one flight of stairs, it is fully modernized, and centrally heated. The kitchen is fully equipped with electric oven and ceramic hob, microwave, washer/dryer, fridge with freezer compartment, and dishwasher. The spacious bedroom contains a king-size bed and ample storage. The lounge is comfortably furnished, with a sofa-bed, Freeview television, HiFi with CD player and iPod/MP3 docking, and features a dining area at one end; a glass-panelled door leads on to a small balcony with views of the
surrounding area.

With wood flooring throughout (excluding the shower room), gas central heating and instant hot water, this is a luxurious base from which to enjoy your visit to Edinburgh, whether for business or pleasure.

Smoking is not permitted in the flat, but smokers can use the balcony.

There are numerous options for eating and drinking in the area, with a
teahouse, a Starbuck’s and a pub all within 100 metres, and numerous other
options beyond. A small local grocer shop is also within 100 metres, and a
Tesco Express supermarket is within 5 minutes walk, with a large Sainsbury
supermarket about 10-15 minutes walk away. The Royal Mile and surrounding area offer a range of shops for browsing and purchasing anything from tourist souvenirs through Scotch whisky and bagpipes to belly-dancing outfits and Venetian glass!

Various Edinburgh Bus Tours can be joined at the bus stop across the road
from the apartment, as can Lothian Region buses which can transport you to
all parts of the city. From a stop close to the apartment, a bus can take
you direct to Ocean Terminal, where the Royal Yacht Britannia is moored.

Also within a few minutes walk are the Queens Park and Arthur’s Seat: with
a little exertion, you can experience fresh air, exercise AND get some of
the best views of Edinburgh from Salisbury Crags and the top of Arthur’s
Seat! There is a children’s play park inside the Park.

Cycle hire is available near the apartment, and there are various cycle
routes around the Queens Park and Edinburgh.

For those interested in outdoor activities, there are many walking trails
in East Lothian and the Borders. There are lots of bird-watching
opportunities, especially at St Abbs and the Isle of May, as well as the
Seabird Centre in North Berwick. For those interested in history, there are many castles and stately homes some highlights include Sir Walter Scott’s house, Abbotsford; the abbeys of Jedburgh and Melrose; Linlithgow Palace; Tantallon Castle; and Hopetoun House.

Car parking is free around the apartment overnight, but cars must be
parked in paying parking bays during the day. There is free on-street
parking 5-10 minutes walk away, as well as a secure (paying) car park by
the Waverley Station.

Guests will be met on arrival, unless specific arrangements have been made
with the guest in advance. On departure, guests lock the door of the flat and leave keys. Please note that a returnable security deposit of £100 is payable on or before arrival.
