Located right at the west end with Edinburghs main street Princes Street a pleasant 10 minute walk away this apartment is in a great location. Whether arriving by train plane or automobile it is all so easy at this location. Haymarket train station is a 2 minute walk, there is a taxi rank at the station as well as the airport shuttle bus stop. At the Haymarket junction which again is a 2 minute walk you can get a bus pretty much anywhere in the city or you may choose to drive either with your own car which you will be given a car park pass for or there is a car rental place on nearby Haymarket terrace. We always say to guests that you don’t really need a car once you are here unless you are going on day trips out of the city. With Princes Street a 10 minute walk there is plenty to do but if you don’t even want to go that far there are lots of restaurants and shops beside the apartment. Omar Khayam, one of Edinburghs best Indian restaurants is a 2 minute walk and even closer are a couple of sushi bars, Thai, Nepalese, Italian, Scottish – basically loads of options. How about salsa lessons and a mojito at Cuba Norte on nearby Morrison Street (3 minutes walk). Laserquest is about 30 doors away so you can spend an hour blasting your travelling companions with lasers. Maybe that’s not your thing and you would prefer the dramatic architecture of St Marys cathedral which is a 4 minute walk and from there you can go a little further to the Dean Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art. You might even want to join the water of leith walkway for a gentle amble along this dramatic riverside setting. The EICC conference centre is only a 4 minute walk and this apartment is absolutely ideal for delegates attending conferences and who want to avoid hotel prices. From the conference centre the old town is just beyond and lots of our guests wander up to the Grassmarket where you will find the occasional markets and shows depending on season. For the shopaholics you might want to stop at the clothes boutiques in and around William Street on your way to Princes Street. Whatever you choose to do during your stay you will find this apartment is in a great location making your stay easy to get to, easy to find, easy to get to the rest of the city from and a true home from home.
You will arrive in Edinburgh and locate our apartment from the detailed arrival instructions we have sent to you. This apartment is on the first floor and shares the stair with only one other apartment (another one of our holiday apartments). As you enter the apartment you will find the hallway opening into the open plan lounge/dining and kitchen area where you will find a welcome basket with a selection of Scottish biscuits and a bottle of wine. There is also tea, coffee and sugar as well as a pint of milk in the fridge for you so you once our member of staff has showed you around the apartment you can just put your feet up and relax before deciding what to do during your stay.
You can sink into the leather settees in the lounge and catch up on events on the 36” plasma screen TV with freeview included. If you have brought your laptop you will be able to use the free and unlimited broadband to surf the web or maybe you would just prefer to relax with some music from the cd player which has an MP3 jack. The lights are dimmable so you can create a warm and relaxing atmosphere with full control over the electric heating system. The apartment was fully insulated a few years ago so in winter it is nice and warm and in summer it is nice and cool. As extra back up you will find desk fans in the unlikely event that the Scottish summer is too hot and blow heaters to supplement the central heating although we don’t think anyone has ever used them.
There is a small dining table that can seat 4 people and there is a kitchenette with most items you will need for preparing meals. There is a fridge, electric oven, microwave and electric ceramic hob (fast heat), In fact if there is a cooking item that we don’t have then just let us know and we will go and get it. For your ingredients there is a supermarket within 200 metres or a convenience store right across the road. Hey there is even a Thai supermarket a few doors up so lots to choose from.
A good nights rest is assured in the bedrooms with our orthopaedic mattresses, cool Egyptian cotton bedding and double glazing to keep any outside noise to a minimum. There is a large wardrobe meaning there is lots of space for even the most demanding fashionista. You will also find an ironing board, iron and hairdryer. The bed is a standard sized double.
The shower room is finished in a natural stone effect with a wide shower trat, w.c and wash hand basin.
Throughout the apartment you will find high quality finishes with solid walnut flooring, 100% wool carpets, stainless steel appliances etc etc.
In summary this apartment has been designed for guests who want to be able to get here easily, have all the comforts of home but also to know that they can get out and around Edinburgh very easily and also have everything that they need for everyday living right on their doorstep.
As a rough guide check in is 4pm but if you are arriving between 11am and 4pm we can take your bags in the apartment, give you a set of keys and let you explore Edinburgh whilst the apartment is cleaned. That will save you having to haul bags around until you can check in. If you are arriving after 9pm there is a £30 charge to cover the costs of us sending out our move in company after hours. We can monitor flights on the BAA website so you don’t need to worry if your flight is delayed if you have told us your flight number. You will be given full contact details including a mobile number for the member of staff who will be meeting you at the apartment. We will also request a mobile number from you that you will have with you when you travel so we can keep in touch.
Payments
You will initially pay 25% deposit when you book to reserve the apartment. We will then request the balance around 6 weeks before arrival which can be paid by credit card or Paypal. For bookings made less than 6 weeks in advance the full amount will be due and in really late bookings from a couple of days before arrival we can either take credit card payments or cash on arrival. In all cases a £300 security deposit will be held to cover any damages or loss of keys etc which is usually by credit card or cheque. This will be returned in full if the apartment is returned to us in a tidy state with all keys (in 5 years of welcoming guests at this apartment we have yet to make a security deduction).
Stag nights/hen nights
Please note we do not accept hen or stag parties at this property.
Smoking
Please also note this is a no smoking apartment and a deduction will be made from the deposit if we need to have curtains or furnishings dry cleaned to eliminate tobacco odours.
