Hi Gertrud
Myself and the Dead Haunted events team stayed at Eastcraig Cottage recently, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We found the cottage like a home from home and very relaxing. The area was very quiet at night which is just what the doctor ordered, especially when getitng in at silly o'clock after our ghost hunting event at Mary King's Close in the heart of Edinburgh, which incidentally is only a short journey away. Highly recommended and I am sure we will be returning again when we visit Edinburgh!
Many thanks.

I stayed with my family at Eastcraig cottage when we visited Edinburgh for Hogmanay. The cottage is very comfortable, with plenty of space to accommodate 6 of us. It is nicely decorated and has all the home comforts, appliances and equipment you should need. We had a really great time here. As we were celebrating a birthday, the owners had left a card, and birthday banners, a really nice touch. There are some lovely walks in the park at the end of the lane, and it is just a short taxi ride from the city centre.
I would highly recommend both the cottage and also Edinburgh's Hogmanay celebrations.

Eastcraig Cottage is a wonderful place to stay. Ideally suited for exploring Edinburgh without being in amongst the noise and hustle and bustle of a city. It is such a peaceful location that you hardly know you are so close to the middle of a major city. There are many places to eat nearby, many within a few minutes drive. Parking was never a problem either. With a supermarket only a few minutes away getting food was never a problem.
The cottage itself is really good, spacious, well equipped and very comfortable. There were 5 people staying for 4 when I was there and we never felt like we were cramped or crowded. There was enough room for everyone.
Unfortunately we didn't get to use the garden when we were there but it looked nice and on a sunny day it would have been great to sit out there, very private.
All in all a great place to stay and I will definitely go back next time we are in the area.

The cottage I felt was ideally situated for touring Edinburgh, without being near the normal inner city noises. Very quiet location, and also very comfortable to stay in for the 4 days I was out visiting clients, so much better than a hotel, parking outside was easy as well.
Property Manager Response (25 May 2010):

Hello Gertrud,
Thank you for such a wonderful place, we all had a great weekend. It was lovely, spacious and roomy, with a great homely feel. The living room was large and cosy, great for relaxing in front of the fire. And the kitchen was fantastic, especially for a group/family to prepare dinner. The perfect base for a weekend break in Edinburgh.
A great location, without being in the city centre. We were lucky enough to some nice weather (sunny and clear) to better enjoy Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. We spent a lovely day walking around Edinburgh (Arthur’s Chair is spectacular) and a great day mountain biking in Glentress. A fantastic trip all round!
Thanks for being so helpful and friendly, especially with all the questions we had. And we all appreciated the welcome pack, a cup of tea was exactly what we needed on arrival. Was very prompt and reliable in terms of payment and deposit funds.
Thanks for everything. It really was a great place and I will recommend to all our friends who visit Edinburgh. We had such a great trip; we are planning a return trip after the winter!

Great Weekend Escape!!! Lovely house, great location and what a spot being next to the Glen, a nice walk of a Sunday morning, to Morningside. The rooms are great and a nice kitchen....it had little use as we chose to eat out...Browns on George St...Lovely food and a great breakfast...sorry I detract! the house is ideal for the city or exploring the east coast out to North Berwick...1/2 hr drive or so. The welcome pack was great as it saved a trip to the shop. Cant wait to get back....
Thanks for everything

Thanks for taking the time to write the review. Glad you enjoyed it, we look forward to welcoming you again soon.
Just the perfect place for us, a family with 3 teenage daughters. Lovely cottage, clean, with bright rooms and nice views. Perfect location, quiet, but also so close to the city. Enough room for everyone, no need for the children to sleep on the sofa, like I saw in so many other places within the same budget spectrum.Great kitchen, amazingly well equiped. Lovely garden, with some fresh herbs too. Plus, plenty of books, board games, videos for younger children...pretty much what a family might need for some days of relaxation and fun.
Very good communication with the owners during the booking arrangements, plenty of information on how to get there, even some food to welcome you when you arrive.
On the whole a lovely, homely place, well thought and organized, that made our stay in Edinburgh very enjoyable.

Gertrud + David,
Thank you for the welcome supplies and the birthday card for Janet. It’s a lovely house you have here and it feels very home from home. The location is great, you feel like you are in the country-side although just a short bus journey into the hub of Edinburgh. We would come back definitely. All the directions and organising since we found you on the internet have been brilliant.
Thank you!
