I have spent 4 wonderful days in there. I went with my couple and I just can say it is perfect.

The milk given by the owner makes you feel like at home since the first moment.

Everything was clean and new, and the system to pick the keys up is really good, because you can arrive whenever without any kind of problems.

I definitely recommend this apartment to couples or small families, because it has a very good size, an adecuate price and it is really close to the main attractions of Edinburgh like the Castle or the Royal Mile.

In addition, there is some pubs next to the building, as well as a Sainsbury's (supermarket).

What a find! We loved this apartment - the location is fabulous, with plenty of lovely places to eat and shop in the Grassmarket, and just a 10-15 minute walk to Princes Street / Waverley Station. The apartment is very well equipped and the fresh flowers and milk meant we felt welcomed and were able to have a cup of tea immediately.
We also really appreciated the late checkout which meant we had somewhere safe to leave our luggage until our afternoon flight home.
We borrowed a guide book for the weekend, and there are plenty of helpful leaflets in the hall too.
Thanks again for a lovely stay! We'll be back...

A fantastic location and very well-equipped, clean and comfortable apartment. Very helpful landlord. It made our stay in Edinburgh a very enjoyable experience - we will definitely return and will thoroughly recommend the apartment.

No complaints at all. We couldn't fault the location, price or cleanliness. We very much appreciated the flowers and milk on arrival, and were delighted by the landlord's flexibility in letting us check-in early after travelling to Edinburgh on the sleeper train.

Fabulous choice for staying in Scotland’s capital! This is an extremely pleasant, friendly and very spacious apartment with well-equipped kitchen and living room. We were even welcomed by fresh flowers and a pint of milk in the fridge! You’ll find plenty of useful leaflets and guides in the hall too. Excellent pick if you want to stay central as the Royal Mile is just five minutes and local Sainsbury’s just a hundred metres away. We will definitely use it again.

We stayed for a long weekend while visiting my son in Edinburgh. I was a bit dubious about renting an apartment at first, as we normally try and find a cheap hotel. I was so glad we did! The apartment was scrupulously clean, very tastefully decorated and very well equipped. There were also some nice little touches that made all the difference - fresh flowers in the living room, tea & coffee in the kitchen, milk in the fridge - even an umbrella in the hat stand! Though my daughter tried to convince me that it had been left by a previous guest! All in all we had a very pleasant sojourn & I would highly recommend Castleside to any would be visitors.

What a great apartment. It's spacious in an excellent location with sensational views of the Castle. We stayed here for five nights and the mattress was fine (please see another April 2011 review), the bed extremely comfortable and the owner was just a phone call away if required. When we arrived, there was milk in the fridge, tea and coffee were provided and there were freshly-cut flowers in the lounge. Also, there is a supermarket less than 100 yards from the apartment complex. The owner has provided a variety of tourist brochures about the area and even included a few DVDs for your enjoyment. We had no complaints and feel we received superb value for money. If we ever return to Edinburgh, this apartment will be our first choice when seeking accommodation.

We had a absolute lovely stay at the castleside apartment in Edinburgh! The size of the apartment surprices us positivly as well as the views from the windows. The only negative thing to mention is the beds. There is no top madres on the beds and it is therefore a bit tough to sleep on.. Eventhough I would still recommend this to friends and family staing in Scotland due to the location, standard and easyness. All in all a very good apartment!

Property Manager Response (13 Apr 2011):

Appreciate the comments. The bed is less than a year old but the mattress has not worn as well as I would have liked. A new mattress will be put on the bed ASAP.

We spent 4 nights here in this delightful apartment. It is in a fantastic location, within walking distance of all tourist attractions, yet very quiet. The apartment was extremely clean and very well equiped, even a pint of milk in the fridge & the heating was on when we arrived, very welcome as there was a LOT of snow. It is located within a gated community, with fantastic views of the castle from every window. Very close to Grassmarket area, with plenty of pubs & restaurants & shops. Also fantastically priced. Will definitely recommend Castleside to anyone looking to visit Edinburgh. All in all a wonderful stay. Glad we stayed here, rather than booking a hotel as usual. Big thankyou to the owners.

We spent 5 days in Edinburgh and enjoyed the apartment. It is in an excellent location, within easy walking distance of all tourist sites. A good food store is just up the street. Places to eat are nearby. The apartment was clean and well-stocked. The instructions and helpful advice we received prior to coming were appreciated. Would recommend it and would stay again.

What can I say? Excellent location, spotlessly clean, well equipped. Ice in the freezer, fairy, towels, loo roll, tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper. 4 girls stayed here for 4 nights had all intend returning another time with their "other half" so you can't get a better recommendation than that. Sofa bed wasn't that comfy BUT the flat does say 2 +2 not 4 and to be fair it was so well priced that it was very reasonable even if just 2 shared.

One minor "misdescription" if you can call it that is the balcony. If you wanted to sit on the balcony and have a drink you may be disappointed. The flat is in a walled compex and the balcony is actually the area outside your front door your neighbours will use to get to their properties. Don't let this put you off though - quiet despite being central. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
