Film Festival Accommodation

The Edinburgh International Film Festival celebrated its 61st anniversary in 2007, which makes it the UK's longest running film festival. The festival is famous for its fantastic range of films - showing premiers of the best films around.

Originally founded by the Edinburgh Film Guild, the festival only focused on documentaries. However now the festival shows a wide range of films that come from around the world, which do not have to be documentaries or feature length films - but can be animations, shorts and music videos.

The 2007 festival had an outstanding line-up of British films - 20 in total, which is very impressive. There are several awards given out during the festival, including the much coverted 'Michael Powell Award for Best British Feature Film' and an award voted for by the films audiences.

After 60 years of the festival taking place in August, the 2008 festival will for the first time take place in June. The decision to move the festival was taken in order to avoid the event being overshawdowed by the thousands of other events that take place in Edinburgh in August. The 2008 festival promises to be the biggest and best festival yet - so get searching for your Edinburgh Film Festival Accommodation and find the perfect place for you!
